Stay Tuned!
Alfredo Muro's experience with the concept of a PEÑA, the mission of the D'Addario Foundation, and José Antonio Abreu's core values of El Sistema in Venezuela offer a path to empower students through the arts. One Voice 4 Change is currently looking at how our mission and projects could unite with these wonderful global visions of education and the arts.
Key concepts from the Venezuelan program "El Sistema."
-
Scores - Music is arranged to fit the specific technical ability of each student, therefore allowing beginners to play with advanced students.
-
NO EXCLUSION - 100% of the students participate. Music is for everyone, not just the privileged minority.
-
Social - Students work in groups and the learning culture is a priority.
-
Function - Music is an essential part of the greater community and should bring joy to all.
-
GOAL: Changing, supporting and influencing the social and emotional lives of young people
When children are playing music together, all the differences in class, race, everything - they disappear. They don't exist anymore. For a child, it gives the message that unity and harmony in the world are possible, that war is not necessary.

Culture, humanity, kindness, and the joy of learning will be served by combining these inspirational ideas and values. Every voice can be expressed through music to share social harmony and cultural values.
The D'Addario Foundation believes in the transformative power of music and that mentoring and building communities through music can positively affect social change.
Here is another interview that will help us understand what is possible.

This global event is a social gathering of people who have cultural interests related to the arts, regardless of whether or not they are professionals or amateurs. The goal of a “peña” is to showcase a sense of community.

Theme: Peña / Social Harmony
One Voice Can Change the World. Those six words were the inspiration that started the mission of One Voice 4 Change.
We live in a world where disconnection is growing, criticism and hate seem to be ways to achieve power and control, and schools struggle to prepare our youth for a rapidly changing future. Kids face an outdated education system, and they have fewer options as to where to turn to gain a sense of purpose and belonging.
Students need creativity, innovation, and relevance to be able to learn skills needed for their future. They want to feel that they have a place in this world through their own eyes. They need the resources and support to find connections to empower their passions, inspire their learning and curiosity and discover themselves to use their voice to shape the future consciously.
Every student is worthy of connection. One Voice 4 Change provides the opportunities to find and connect students with mentors, creating partnerships that shape the individual learning experiences. Our work with students in Mexico, Belize, and Colorado has been successful because of the relationships that have continued to grow from these projects. One Voice 4 Change commits to continuing our work forming connections and partnerships that result in social harmony.
